New and one-trip shipping containers for sale

One-trip containers have made a single loaded voyage, usually from Asia, and are sold almost like new: straight walls, clean floors and intact paint. Dealers on this page stock them in 20 ft, 40 ft and high cube sizes, along with open-side and double-door units.

New new and one-trip sea cans are added every week.

One-trip container prices

Typical asking prices as of late 2026, before delivery and tax:

  • One-trip 20 ft: about $2,800–$4,500
  • One-trip 40 ft high cube: about $4,250–$7,000
  • Open-side or side-door one-trip units: roughly $6,000 for a 20 ft and $7,500–$10,500 for a 40 ft

Prices move with the global container market, so most dealers hold a quote for only a few days.

When new is worth the extra money

  • You are building an office, cabin, shop or home: cutting and insulating a straight, rust-free box is cheaper and the result looks better.
  • It will sit in view of customers or neighbours.
  • You want the longest life. A one-trip unit kept painted can last 25 years or more on land.
  • You want a specific colour or a special door layout.

Questions

What does one-trip mean?

The container was built, loaded with cargo for one voyage to North America, then sold off instead of going back into the shipping fleet. Expect minor scuffs from that one trip, but no dents or rust.

Is a one-trip container the same as new?

Close to it. A truly unused container is rare in Canada: new containers are built in Asia, and the cheapest way to bring one here is to fill it with cargo for the trip. Dealers use "new" and "one-trip" for the same grade.
